VeriSign increases domain name fees by 7%
VeriSign, the leading domain name operator, has confirmed that they will increase the current domain registry rates by 7% this 15 October 2007.
Verisign cites that the domain name market has increased drastically since 1999 and there is a need to raise revenue to improve its infrastructure to keep up with the demands.
Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), in its operator agreement with them has granted VeriSign permission to increase prices by 7% in each of the next four years totaling at 31% increase.
Since all domain registrars rely on VeriSign for DNS support, this policy affects domain registrars all across the world especially lowly priced domain sellers.
In light of this, VUOX will be assessing the need to increase our prices in the near future.
